Although the shiur was not about that topic, you are right that I should have mentioned the pirsumey nisa aspect of the proliferation of Menorahs. I will do so in any future presentation of this material.

Once you've read this, please say so, so I can delete these comments, which obviously do not belong here.

Best wishes

RHBRabbi Harvey Belovskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03923233054253028316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29900295.post-26496285934643626412009-12-27T06:20:10.684+00:002009-12-27T06:20:10.684+00:00Hi Rabbi,

I must take issue with your claim that Chabad is attempting to change the accepted 'round' image of the menorah to the 'straight' image of the menorah by placing the latter menorahs all over town. Chabad places Menorahs all over town in order to fulfil the mitzvah of pirsuma nisah. Obviously if they are building public menorahs they will build them acc. to the instructions of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. To suggest that the true purpose of this all is, in fact, really to change the image of the menorah to fit in line with the Rebbe's opinion and neglect to recognise the admirable efforts of pirsuma nissah etc. is rather disturbing.

(I have been looking for your email address on your various sites but havent managed to find it so i posted my comment here)

YoniYoninoreply@blogger.com
